Hi all,
In the process of putting my split-screen back together, currently focussing on the rear lights. I need the rear light bases like these: http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/pro ... 20341c2a7c
however they've got terrible reviews:
"This part doesn't match the original as it is too small for the plinth"
and
"Different shape from original although photo shows correct item. Not impossible to butcher the ESM one to suit (Baines sell flat rubber sheet) but I'm going to use it pretty much as it is and accept it as a poor (albeit pricey) replacement."
Not knocking ESM at all, but is there a better alternative?
Thanks all.
Split screen rear light gaskets.

Re: Split screen rear light gaskets.
That was my review - basically it doesn't fit, so I re-used the 65 year old part. I've got 2 cars both needing the rubber under the front of the door frame replaced - perished - and cars are garaged, not used in winter and parts aren't old. Modern rubber components are very poor quality.
Perhaps advertise for decent rubbers - they must be around.

That's because they are for the MM's and early Series 2s you need the gasket for the L459 tail lamp fitted Oct 54> if you have the later Series 2

What you need are the rubber gasket for the Series II painted plinth, part 56: http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-mo ... ourer.html

Yes I thought I remember reading about your problems with them somewhere. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place as I've thrown the old gaskets away(which were totally shot, like the rest of the car!) some time ago....plastic_orange wrote:That was my review - basically it doesn't fit, so I re-used the 65 year old part. If only! Sadly they're for a '50 car so I do need the earlier smaller rear rubber gasketsmyoldjalopy wrote:http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-mo ... ourer.html

Re: Split screen rear light gaskets.
These rear lights were used on a lot of cars from the late 40's early 50's, but they may have had different plinths. I'm sure my A40 Devon had them. Perhaps a google search would help.
