The Ray Newell/Steve Foreman Traveller book (page111) shows an L shaped striker plate at the top of the left rear door. There wasn't one on the bodged timber frame I'm now replacing, but looks simple to make one. Can anyone tell me, though, the approximate length of the vertical leg, as this doesn't show in the photograph? I'm assuming not very long at all, as Steve says it is only fixed with two small screws at the top.

Mine measures 2.2cm (22mm). The fixings appear to be small nails, not screws.

They were originally secured with tiny countersunk screws.

Strange. AFAIK, my 1970 Traveller has original wood and fixings (apart from the valence behind the number plate, which succumbed to dry rot).
