Rust prevention with..linseed oil?!!!

Post by Dryad »

I've just seen this article about how good linseed oil is for preserving steel railway bridges. Has anyone ever tried it on their Morris? I'm thinking of giving it a go!

See this: https://www.sustrans.org.uk/news/linsee ... rk-bridges

It is raw linseed oil that is most likely to self ignite. A large surface area promotes rapid oxidation and localised heating.

I doubt many cricket bats have had a self-ignition problem! It’s not really the linseed oil that catches fire, more the substrate (the soaked rags).
