I have just washed and polished my car with the usual disappointing result.
I used Auto Glym deep shine, and then a Simoniz hard wax, because the Auto Glym shine only seems to last a few days.
It looks terrible. I am wondering if i should T cut it to within an inch of its life and start again.
How many times can you T cut paint before you do damage?
It is an 'oily rag' car, but I would like the paint to shine a bit, and for more than a few days.
Thanks, John.
how many times can you T cut?

Have you tried using a clay bar before you use polish and wax to see if that improves the finish?

A clay bar removes surface contaminants (such as tar, tree sap, paint over-spray) without removing any paint and leaves the surface very smooth ready for polishing and waxing. If you've never used one you will be amazed at how much crud it removes even from a seemly 'good' finish. It may not be the answer to your problem but it is worth a try. You will need some detailing lubricant to use with it.

The first time that I used claybay on a red car,I was amazed at the results. Its hard work but well worth it for the finish, just make sure that you seal the finish with a decent car wax.
Morris Minors..... such fun
