Petrol Filler Gasket

Post by myoldjalopy »

Hello,

There is a circular (leather?) gasket at the top of the petrol tank filler pipe which has come loose on my car. Can it be glued back (some glue that is petrol resistant?) or are new ones available that just push into place?

Thanks,

Pete

Not anything I have ever seen! Sure it hasn't come out of the cap?

Well, in fact I had TWO spare caps! One did show evidence that there had been some sort of a (cork/leather?) ring in it once, and when I took the current cap off again, the ring WAS back in the cap, not in the filler tube which is where I first noticed it. So it would be nice to keep it there. Back to original question - what's best to glue it in with that petrol won't dissolve?
