Van exhaust

Post by Propshaft »

I have a Morris minor van fitted with a 1275 midget engine I have purchased from esm the larger down pipe. My question is does anyone know if you can buy an off the peg exhaust system with the larger bore to fit the down pipe. Esm do not supply them

I think you will find that Maniflow of Salisbury do offer a "1 5/8 part that you need. Not sure what the ESM size is though.
Will not be shaped as for the van original, but I have seen vans/pick ups with Saloon systems fitted.

If the van can utilise the car exhaust I would suggest that the ESM large bore exhaust system be fitted.

I have seen some converted but have not fitted myself YET. I have looked closely at the task, and don't see many snags involved apart from (in my application) avoiding the larger fuel tank. There are many pre formed bends available to assist. Good luck!

Please do. I may try and copy the original van shape/form/profile in 1"5/8 with the available bends when I get that far along my project.

A mini spares RC40 pair of silencers does the trick for me.

The smaller silencer goes on to the 3 branch under the passenger floor. :D

Hi smithskids I take it your exhaust is the big bore have had a look on mini spares can't see the large bore front silencer , did you just buy some standard bends and weld together

Hi Propshaft, both silencers are available from minispares, the front one is round section, the rear is oval section. RC40 package gets you both boxes and a piece of pipe to play with. They last about 7 to 8 years. I have been using this system for about 25 years. If you go round to your local exhaust center they will usually let you look in the scrap bin or they will sell you the bends. You can then cut and weld the system together and join up with U clips.

Cheers Iain.
