Hi All
I bought an ashtray for my 1967 four door from the national at the weekend.Where exactly does it fit and what’s the best way to attach it .It will never be used but I am trying to put back all the things that were missing when I bought the car.
It has both its silver inner part and the outer casing but no screws.
Many thanks
Steve

The screw holes should be in the transmission tunnel and the screws when fitted are hidden under the carpet.

Hi thanks for the reply, does that mean I have to lift the carpet or can I just screw it in anywhere even though I’d be screwing it in fresh sort of thing. Is there anything in that part of the car to avoid.
Many thanks
Steve

Re: Ashtray in centre near hand brake.
Use the existing 4 screw holes and you will need to lift the carpet either side of the transmission tunnel to access the screw holes.
You may have to cut 4 small slots in the carpet to allow the screw tabs to fit through.
There are no electrics directly under the transmission tunnel and if you use the existing screw holes you will not go wrong.

Re: Ashtray in centre near hand brake.
I'm fairly new here and normally asking questions. This time though I think I can help as my car currently has no interior (but does have shiny paint on the floor now). Hopefully I'm collectively giving something back in exchange for the help I've had!
The photo shows the 4 holes either side of the steel rule which I added so you can see how far behind the handbrake they are - happy hunting!
