No key

I haven't got a key to lock the back doors on my traveller. How easy is it to dismantle the locking mechanism to find out what the key number is which I assume is stamped on the square shaft or do I keep trying different keys till I find the right one.

Heritage Certificate would tell you key numbers unless the locks had been changed.

You've answered your own question.. The key number is stamped into the square shaft and visible if you remove the handle.
A Heritage Certificate is an expensive way of obtaining this information - and if the handle has been replaced already, you'll be no wiser anyway

Hi,
I seem to remember seeing someone with a whole board full of spare original keys somewhere, does anyone else remember this and who they were?
It would be useful to know where a key might be obtained to match a given number.

There are several sellers on ebay who list new/old type car keys cheaply. Most of those on Morris Minors will be FP prefix followed by 3 numbers up to about 1961(?) and then FS prefix thereafter. Many of the Minor specialists can probably help too.

I'm looking for '886' for my replacement boot lock if anyone has one? Image below (the 'dampness' is penetrating fluid - it's having a soak).
If not I shall have to look up how you swap the barrel on the boot lock, if its possible......

Update: Looking on eBay I spotted a near miss 'FS 887'.
This comes with the handle and lock for a two door (door lock / handle).
My replacement boot lock -- the original is so pitted it is never going to be presentable again -- is of the later type (no screw heads visible / not unscrewable from the outside), so I assume my locks key may be prefixed 'FS' -- FS886.
Like I said, near miss.......

Johns 'FS886' key was a perfect fit, so I now have a fully functional and very presentable bootlock. Many thanks to him. 
As soon as the new gasket arrives it will be fitted.
It just goes to underline the value of not throwing old keys away, when it comes to classic cars.
Just a thought but perhaps old spare keys, that people no longer have a use for or wish to hang onto, could be sent to our clubs 'sparesman', to be kept as a pool of spares for those in need?
Like I say, just an idea.......

To give you a clue! The vehicle Steve mentioned was the last of the line started by NWL576, and was compared/roadtested with NWL for Classic Cars magazine of July 1994. Cheers John

Ironic update:
Having sourced a key for my later bootlid handle, oiled the lock, got it working nicely, got the nuts off the studs and copper greased them and finally sourced a new gasket from Charles Ware I went to fit it.
Removed my original early but pitted beyond salvation bootlid handle, to find the studs for the later handle do not line up with the screw holes for the earlier handle. Close but no banana ...............
Very close in fact, so if I drill it for the later handle I may well end up with the new holes and the old holes merging......
So I'm now on the look out for an early bootlid handle, the type which screws in place from the outside, with good chrome.....
C'est la vie...............
Does anyone have a good spare?
