traveller petrol pipe

Post by stuffedpike20 »

Please forgive my ignorance, but how does the tank filler pipe come out of the side panel of the traveller?
Is there a bend in the hose from the tank?
The reason I am asking is because there are no LCV tanks available, and I am wondering if I can use the traveller set up on my pickup using a standard petrol tank?
Thanks, John.

There is a flexible hose between the tank inlet and the actual filler pipe, the filler pipe is straight and goes through the side panel at an angle.
But there is a special rubber trim around that pipe which is "supposed" to seal onto the outside of the panel.

Why not get your original tank welded?

Not a joke tanks can be welded safely, (IF YOU KNOW WAT YOUR DOING)
I don’t suggest you hit it with a mig welder unless it’s been emptied and de-fumed,
But I have welded several tanks over the years without any problems,

Just a thought

Thanks both.
My tank has got pin holes, so is too thin to weld I think.
If it was a sound tank with an accidental split in it, I would have a go at welding it.

The traveller tank is the same as the saloons etc...

Why not cut the filler section from yours and weld it on a large new standard minor saloon tank?
