I've just converted my moggie to negative earth as per technical tips. It started up fine and the ignition warning light went out, but when I took it for a quick spin, it suddenly lost power and then did a series of very loud backfires and the ammeter went off scale. All seems fine now (10 mile trip without incident)but I was wondering if the conversion caused the problem.
Any comments

Lo, the loss of power would appear to be due
to some of the cylinders not firing which meant that the unburnt petrol mixture found its way into the exhaust system where it
exploded. You may have disturbed one of the
electrical connections,in the ignition system, while you were doing your conversion.
