Ex police Minor travellers

Post by busguy »

Did the police buy any Morris 1000 travellers around the time they bought the standard minor 'panda' cars? if so, did they have zip headlinings?
Did the West Midlands police buy any glacier white travellers in 1971?
Is there a register of cars in that era?

We are aware of Travellers used in Edinburgh and Rutland, but are still researching other forces. Whether individual forces required zips in the roof lining depended on whether they fitted roof boxes - some cars had bymper of boot mounted boxes, and so would not need access to the inside of the roof. Also, some vehicles were used as "ordinary" transport, and so would not need roof signs. Much of the research into these cars turns up answers like "sometimes" or "it depends". Any information that anyone has will always be gratefully received and incorporated into the register and reference material.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I was researching a particular car, which now looks to have had a private individual as first owner.
It was first registered in the proximity of the Adderley Park factory in 1971so I was just curious as to its history.
