Hi folks,
In the last couple of days I've finally fixed my welder (yay!) and so I'm starting to think a little more about the bodywork and chassis.
I recently drove an Enfield Electric (which I now want one of) and noticed that it had a fantastic little arrangement of a couple of eyelets at the front of the car which a towbar/A frame arrangement could be linked to to enable it to be towed long distances as a trailer.
Since the current plan includes 40 200AH batteries (which should be good for a good 150 miles) I'm not expecting to tow Hebe much but would like to have that facility.
Rather than spend money on getting a trailer I don't have space for I wondered if I could make some kind of "front" two bar arrangement that I could attach to Hebe for long distance travelling behind a regular car.
Does anyone have any suggestions to where to fabricate this? Obviously I'm thinking of the front bumper mounts and/or chassis legs.
If you want to see the Enfield to see what I'm on about there's some pictures on my blog at http://tinyurl.com/y7pfyf
Nikki.

Dear Nikki,

I think you're going to have problems
It depends on just how many batteries you fit.
All the best,
Colin

A frame towing is now very much frowned upon - except for removal of broken down vehicles. In other words - it's ok for AA and RAC but not for the rest of us. Even if it was done - the weight of all these batteries is going to be significant - so some form of over-run braking would need to be arranged - connected to the car's hydraulic system to operate the brakes when the tow car braked. This can all be done - but it's not very easy.

Hi everyone,
Perhaps one for the BVS since quite a few members have transported their vehicles like that then.
Since I'm using LiIon I hope that the weight will be equal (perhaps slightly less) to a standard car. Of course It looks like it's just getting the car below that 750 KGs... Hmmmmmmm.
I shall have to play with my maths ;)
