Correct type of radiator

Post by Leyland »

Hello everyone.
I have a 1962 948cc saloon. one of the last 948's before the 1098 was fitted. I have the flashing relay box.
I am having to replace the radiator. I one fitted is a 'high dome'. However, acoording to Ray's bible this type was replaced with the current flatter model in 1960. It seem to me unlikely that if mine has been replaced at some time it would have been with an earlier model.
Has anyone out there got a 1961/62 car with original rad still on that can tell me which type theirs is?
If member 'WOO' comes on line can you contact me please. I have sent you an email address.
cheers

I thought the tall radiator stopped around the end of the series 2?
Al my Minor 1000's (58, 61, 62, 65, 68, 71?, 71, 72) have had the same rad (the not so tall one).
My 55 (series 2) has the taller rad.
Apart fom originality I don't think it makes any difference which rad you use.

Hi Leyland, my Feb. '62 saloon, one of the later 948cc cars, had it's original radiator when I bought it (95% certain), until it started leaking :( . It was the later type (not tall), in fact it still had the "Morris Radiator Co.," or similar and serial number, plate attached.

I thought the 'tall' one was series 2 only. The 948s and 1098s had the later flatter types I think.

Im with you on that one.
And as you all know it was the same year the "take away" was invented and did away with the need to warm up your pasties on the radiator top
