No - just a shortsighted coder who forgot that old cars still exist. I guess the date is actually a counter rollover when it can't cope with the actual number, or just a default as the real number couldn't be entered. That must have been a *very* early minor van
Anyway - it's goog to see that we found one - most that get posted on here are never heard of, but as the RAC vehicle finder site has no records of either of my moggies (including my traveller which has had 2 changes of keeper in the last year) I'm not too surprised.

nah - it's just people that were sent to Coventry (World war 2 history lesson if you want one...) as this was a huge centre for production of military vehicles, machines and munitions.
90% of Coventry City was flattened by bombs during the war too so I think that's why the term 'being sent to Coventry' refers to not talking to someone anymore.

No, its way before then - the roundheads were POW in Coventry, but were allowed out to try and beg/buy their own food, (not given any rations). They found it very hard as they were ostracised by the locals, who were royalist... hence 'sent to coventry' meaning, to shun, or give the cold shoulder. (I think??)
My great-uncle used to own one of the car factories in Coventry. He had some great stories about balancing to drive the incomplete cars down to London to get the body's put on!
(And doing break-neck speeds on the straight bits of road - we're talking 50 - 60 mph here!!!!)

Parliamentarian I meant - not royalist. Doh.
Oh. And I also meant Cavaliers, not Roundheads..... *sigh*
(As you may guess I'm not very good at remembering details.....)

Ohhh! Spoil sport.
...I was completely wrong before by the way (detail, details....*sigh*) - not about the 'sent to Coventry bit, but the other bit.....
It was my GREAT-great uncle, used to drive the chassis of the first cars down to OXFORD sitting on a box.... (but my great-uncle used to do break-neck speeds ) .....
(I thought London was a bit of a long way.....)
