This is a picture of a original exhaust silencer off a 1957 Morris minor saloon. Do you think this deign of silencer would sound different to the rolled edged silences we get today?.[frame][/frame]

Depends if the internal structure is still intact.
I once had an old exhaust on my traveller that I kept welding up simply because I liked the exact noise it made. Turns out the internal pipe full of holes was missing, so the 'scilencer' was just for show. Blue flames on the overrun.... youngsters.....
