Spiders are hard to find these days -= so if you do have a spider pump - take great care to not lose the spider!

Just came in late to this, and would only add the fan clearance issue to what has already been said.
I have deleted mine and will be fitting electric one.

The original Marina water pump Pt No: GWP192 for the 12V engine has an extended nose which does not help.

You can just make out the longer nose on the water pump of this Marina 'A' Plus engine compared to the Minor water pump.[frame]Image[/frame]

There is some form of thread on the extended pulley nose/boss which may have been used for assisting with the locating of the Marina plastic bladed fan.

Ahh - ok - but the pulley mount remains the same - so the fan belt still lines up ok. :)

Yes the fan/water pump, dynamo/alternator and crankshaft pulleys all line up but the nose/boss may extend in front of the fan blades dependent upon what fan is used.

The 'Ital' 1300 had a viscous fan fitted. Hence, the longer threaded shaft. I'm not sure what year BL started using it on the Marina/Ital range though. I used the same water pump on my Minor (without the viscous, cos it wont fit within the gap of the rad) and had no problem.

Does it have a by-pass spigot?

The Marina does have a bypass spigot and which does pass water to the head. Some later 'A' Series pumps had the spigot but was solid with no hole.

Indeed - just trying to place it on a time line - compared to when the Mini/Metro engines lost the bypass.

okay ive got my stuff on the way from esm, i also totally forgot my dad had a spare 1098 lying around when he got his moggy, so im theiving the front plate off of that :D yano the water pump on the marina engine has a longer nose, can i just swap a normal pump ff of my 1098 in order to stop the fan hitting the rad? and i know ill have to cut the timing cover breather in half to do that but thats not hard

You should use a big impeller pump on a 1275 - if the 1098 pump is so endowed - then yes, use it!
