v888 do you need to pay?

I have just got the form above from the .gov website and it seems to state that for finding information on a vehicle you own or have owned incurs no cost? Is this true as I have previously heard there is a £5 fee.

It cost me a fiver for each car but that was a few years back. Maybe they've scrapped the charge, probably cost more than a fiver to administer and bank it.

Well I can send it off without any money and see what happens. It will then be up to them if they choose to do it or not.

The latest V888 form from 5/2015 states;
A Name and address of registered keeper at a specific date Fee £2.50
B Information about a vehicle that was previously registered, or is registered in your name. No Fee.

Simples...!
Print the form off, fill it in and send it to DVLA. Some time in the next few weeks/months you will get the information you asked for, providing they have it.
Good luck!

Well then if it is not just me who has come to that conclusion, I will certainly give it a go and report back if they are indeed now doing it at no cost.

They are now doing a number of things at no cost to the owner. 8)
Retention of a registration number used to cost £25 and had to be renewed annually, now it is free and the retention document is valid for 10 years! :o
One or two other charges have been dropped too.

This is slightly annoying. A month or two ago I paid the £5 for the info on one of my cars. But at least I can get info on the other one for free now.

Just come to print out another form and it seems to have gone back to the 3/2015 and wants paying, what a farce it is a good job I photocopied the first one I printed.

Checking the updates it seems:
22 June 2015 12:46pm
Fee reintroduced for getting information about a vehicle that was previously registered, or is registered in your name.
9 June 2015 8:28am
Removal of the £5 fee for a vehicle that was previously registered, or is registered in your name.
