878LM*

Post by MrIan »

Ok I know i've more chance of winning the lottery but just on the off chance i'm looking to find any info or maybe whereabouts of a black 2 door Mog with clap hands wipers reg No. 878LM* (the asterisk is because I can't remember the last letter and also it can't be seen in the photo I have) .
The picture is from the early 60s showing our car at the time i'd say and we would have been living in London.
Not much chance I know but worth a try.

You have 18 possibilities, of which 15 were London registered in 1957. The others are LMJ Bedfordshire in 1963, and LMA LMB registered in Cheshire in 1960. Other number were not issued in reverse, and there was one in the Isle of Man LMN.

I will do some research and get back to you, hopefully with something positive.

No luck I'm afraid.
None of the registration number possibilities are shown on the DVLA web site, or the London Congestion charge site. If the registration had been transferred to another car it would show on the Congestion charge site search, but alas, no sign of that either.
It could still be stored somewhere in the depths of London. Not long ago, there were a load of side valve minors that came to light after many years stored in East London.
Good luck!

Crikey thanks for the quick answers there as I wasn't expecting anything for a while !!!
Cheers.
The Cheshire 1960 might be a hit as my dad was from and his parents still lived in Cheshire and maybe that's where the car originated from.
I shall see if I can find any more info on it to get the full Reg like original bill of sale or service bills as mum was one for keeping paperwork.

Some county records offices still keep the old registration lists so you may be able to narrow the search down to the number of Morris Minors in that batch of registrations
