Fuel starvation

Post by grantstew8 »

Hi
I've searched and not had much luck.
The fuel pump produces 1100ml a min so should be ok
I've removed the float and there is fuel in the bowl when this starvation occurs
Before I start dis assembling the carb do you have any ideas. (New territory for me)
Gut tells me the jet and or feed pipe to jet is blocked
I've taken a wee video.

Any ideas welcome

Thanks

That would be my next thing to try if it were me. It does sound like a lack of fuel as the engine speeds up.

Run the engine at decent revs and clamp your hand over the air inlet - this sucks up any crap in the carb and should clear any blockages. But also check the carb piston can rise and fall easily and a couple of teaspoon s oil in the damper chamber.

Thanks. Tried the hand clamp several time to no avail checked piston oil and movement. It's little stiff to move up early free to fall. Will remove the whole carb and use the manual to remove jet, clean and replace.
Thanks for advice

So made a few videos of what I did. May not be correct but it's worked like a charm. I think it's going better than ever before
Thanks for the advice.

Don't touch it!! It's NOT the jet.... You are only going to get deeper into the mire. Look instead to your ignition system. That's almost certainly where the problem lies.......

Thanks. Did nothing but what you can see in the video. The car goes really well now. Not touching anything else.
Cheers and thanks for the warning.
