Anyone know VNG 206

Post by qwerty165 »

Recently aquired this 1956 sage green series 2, 2 door saloon. In amoungst the old MOT's and other bits was a sheet of A4 paper giving a bit of the cars history, it says that the car is known as Rosie and that the first owner abandoned the car in a garage and that at the point the information was written it was owned by its third owner who was undertaking work to restore the car to its former glory. So does anyone know who prevoiusly owned this car or can remember seeing it with such a poster at an event so that I can try and work out when this information dates to. I believe it may have been in the East Anglia area as one of the window stickers is from the East Anglia practical classics car show.
Here is a picture taken from the sale advert, as I have not had a chance to take one yet.

I do not know why they are white, all I know is that if it ever comes to a respray it will all be going back to sage green.

What a great looking car. Sage green looks well on it. My personal preference would be sage green bumper valences but possibly leave wheels and grille as they are. Your car probably started life in East Anglia. VNG*** issued by Norfolk County Council between August 56 and April 57. May easily have stayed 'local' for years!

Thank you for the comments and the information. Having googled the registration number I have come across a selection of pictures showing that the car attended a fair few Ipswich - Felixstowe runs between 2009 and 2013.

I am surprised that they could see out of the NS windscreen. It had the white bumper valence even then. Do you know if this run is still going, I am not far away and would think about taking my car up there !

I have been on many of the Ipswich - Felixstowe runs over last 35 years with my Minors and do remember seeing VNG , which as you know, was first registered in Norfolk.
the Iceni branch secretary may know who owned the car from old branch records.
