Beautiful engines. I'm afraid mine is still in use in the Landrover. It can do 15mpg on a good day, downhill, with a helpful wind...
Can't you get it rebuilt?

Re: Rover 3.5 V8 Engine Required.
Looking at options hopefully an sd1 or range rover engine with the later oil seals and heads Had a camera down No.6 and the top of piston is missing , if I'm very lucky I may get away with a piston but I think that's unlikely and I expect a rebuild is likely to be a lot more expensive than an engine.

Re: Rover 3.5 V8 Engine Required.
Well, after a long search it looks like I'm finally sorted with a replacement engine which is currently being fitted at a Rover P5 owners club recommend repairer only 269 miles from me
What this has made me more aware of is the good supply of parts and number of specialist around for our minors. I've lost count of the number of times I've been told "the bloke who could help you with that has retired ".

Glad you are getting sorted. Truly wonderful engines. I love the way that the whole car gently rocks from side to side as it ticks over

this reminds me of when I had my P6 3500 around 30 years ago. when I revved it, it rocked side to side.
all my mates had escorts and tina's and I had the P6. such fun days

I had a Rover 3.5 S Manual gearbox version when I was in my twenties, it was in a weird green sick colour called Lunar Grey.
Needless to say I sprayed it Black, it looked really good with it's vinyl roof and alloy wheels, I always seemed to get a lot of attention from the fairer sex with that car.
I wish I still had it now. but I had a job selling it in the early 80's.
