Re: gearbox
if you want to fit a ribbed case to an original 948 engine, you must change engine backplate, flywheel, clutch.
the ribbed case gearbox should be with clutch lever and gear lever, because the ones from the smooth case gearbox do not fit.
I did this change on my 61 saloon with 948 engine

Re: gearbox
I did this to my 1960.didnt change the back plate or flywheel/clutch just bolted it up and so far it works fine. I am told there may be an issue with the longer input shaft which can foul on the bottom of the crankshaft hole but so far this is not an issue and I don’t see why the shaft could not just be shortened a tad.no doubt if I’m wrong someone will be along to tell me why. And yes I used the rib case gear lever and throw out arm and a slightly thicker thrust bearing
