The vicar's car

Post by SteveClem »

Called at our local garage today to book the boss's Jeep in for its service. There was a very tidy smoke grey Minor in there, minding it's own business.
Seems the local vicar's wife treated him to it and he attempted an alternator conversation, new loom, disposal of trafficators and new indicators. It seems to have gone horribly wrong.
I suppose that's why he's a vicar and not a mechanic

One is tempted to think that it serves him right for removing the dear old trafficators! Whatever was he thinking of? :-?

I drove a car with trafficators and was a bit concerned that most of the modern drivers wouldn't be looking for them or know what they were. I think if they could be rigged up to flash, it might not be original but it might allow for the average twonk.

He's put awful steel plates over the trafficator slots! The garage chap is trying to convince him to use indicators in conjunction with trafficators.

He did what?? That is practically blasphemous! :o

Blaketon - I quite understand anxieties about the visibility of trafficators, especially in daylight, but my car has trafficators and indicators (as do many). They are wired separately, so I use indicators for normal driving and trafficators for fun. An additional benefit to this arrangement is that if the indicators ever fail, I have an auxiliary signalling device! Indeed, when I bought the car and drove it down from Kent, that's exactly what happened and I had to use trafficators all the rest of the way. 8)

You can indeed. Had them on mine for a while now. Brighter than standard bulbs. No wiring needed for them. Straight swap. About £26 a pair from
