Just saying hi.
Hi, I'm the PoolGuy (I play with swimming pools for a living), I'm picking up a '71 Minor van next month to use as my work van. It's over 30 years since I had a non modern vehicle, that was a Frogeye back in the early 80's as my first car.
Looking forward to getting my hands dirty again.

Welcome to the Forum and to Minor ownership. Lots of helpful and friendly advice here.
It would be great to see a picture once you have picked up your van.

Welcome. Are you going to go with period sign writing on your van? Would be great to see pictures if you do.

Re: Just saying hi.
Good to hear from you. Hope you enjoy your Minor Van and find that it "does the job" for you. You are bound to need to get your hands dirty now and again - but that is part of the fun of ownership. Parts availability for the Minor is still very good and they are a simple and basically reliable vehicle when in good condition and well maintained. Keeping the rust at bay will perhaps be the biggest challenge.
It is some years since I drove a Minor Van. My main memories are that I couldn't ever get the seat back far enough to be comfortable and the restricted visibility but a good Minor Van particularly if well painted and sign written, is a thing of beauty

Re: Just saying hi.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Initial plans for it are a few mods to make it a little safer and more reliable, but mainly to just drive it for a while before I decide what else will need doing to make it work friendly on a day to day basis.
It will be sign written, but the design isn’t finalised yet.

Picked the van (Monte) up today and I have to say that 100miles in rain, hail, sleet and sunshine is a good way to get to know a vehicle.

I’ve no idea, I’m on a very steep learning curve, any pointers would be gratefully received.

Gov. tax site shows the make as Leyland but the MOT site refers to the vehicle as Morris . Whatever it is it looks super , have fun.

Re: Just saying hi.
They are Mk1 Ford Transit mirrors. I should think you'll find you're knocking into them all the time! You do need some sort of decent mirror on a van though.....

Well I haven't knocked them yet but they're next to useless. I'm certainly on the look out for something that reflects something worth seeing.ManyMinors wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2019 5:42 pm They are Mk1 Ford Transit mirrors. Thank you Brian.
