blocked tap, water ways,

Post by darrenj »

Omg,, ,, didn't realise today wad going to be spent removeing cylinder head and un blocking channels, Tip to all keep water ways flushed, , ,,
Had a problem with a blocked tap, well was advised on here to use screwdriver or drill bit etc, well con dude ring I couldn't get the screwdriver past the end of the thread was very concerning, so head came off, the water channel that leads to the tap was solid, started tapping the screwdriver with pliers to move inwards, it took overs 3 hrs to clear, so, remember your engine flush and don't forget the anti freeze, wish I didn't have to remove head but it was the only way, mind you good time for new gaskets all round, remember it is possible,, and don't forget the anti freeze, daz

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. Rather than take the head off (did head gasket only 18 months ago) I followed advice in this forum:

1 screwdriver in drain plug hole. Lots of crud but still blocked

2 Coat hanger. A bit more crud, no real progress

3. Speedo cable inner in drill. No joy, too flexible

Left it 24 hours to think about it.

4. Moment of inspiration. Doubled up speedo cable inner. 30 seconds later brown sludge pouring out, one happy bunny

Flushed it a lot. Anti freeze. All done.

Cheers
