If you used an engine crane then you shouldn't need to remove the engine mount towers. If you need to remove them , don't mix them up … they are handed !

If the rubber mounts themselves are fit to reuse then just clean up the threads with a wire brush / WD40. Run the nut up and down the thread , so it spins on nicely. Put some coppa ease on the threads on reassembly , if you wish.
I've been working in the garage , helping a mate with his restoration today.....hot, hot , hot. You deserve a medal.
Pat yourself on the back and enjoy your cold beer later ( or whatever is your favourite tipple ).
Well done.

Yes it was very hot today. Took the engine out by hand no hoist getting a bit old for this but enjoy doing it. The left hand engine mount is of. Cheers Den

You deserve a relaxing evening!
I once removed my sidevalve engine by myself lifting it out by hand through the grill area - don't suppose I could do it now though!

Yeah me too, took the grill out and slid the engine into a wheel barrow! That way I could take it round the back to the shed.
Getting it back in without a hoist needed two people one either side and then a trolley jack underneath with a piece of wood so you can alter the height up and down to get it on the mounts.
There's a fair bit of swearing I seem to remember and levering.

Getting it back in, if it needs lining up to the gearbox, is a bit harder than pulling it out.

I used to lift my Cortina engines, in and out, by myself. Could not do it now, 40 years later, of course.

Took the engine tower of drivers side. Then took the engine mount of the other side. Engine went In no problem. Got it all tied up and started no problem. Thanks for the advice. Cheers Den
