DPD224J

Post by kbonney88 »

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has ever come across my 1970 Blue 2 Door saloon - DPD224J

I am working on it at the moment to get it on the road for this years MOT UK.

I know nothing about its history other than it lived in Kent before I bought it.

Is it previously known to the club? anyone got any pics showing it?

A bit of a long shot I know, but you never know..

Kindest regards,

Kevin :)

Hi again..

further to my request... I decided to start tidying the wiring today on DPD.. I knew it had an alternator fitted, but was unsure how well, the wiring had been fitted etc, as I had seen lots of extra wires in the engine bay the last time I looked.
anyway - I then realised that it left the factory with an 11AC alternator (which it no longer has) but still retains 2 of the 3 relays - thats one thing...

second thing... when I was lying on my back across the front seats removing the car radio cage and speakers that some one had fitted to the parcel shelf I glanced up at the headlining.... it has the zip as per a police minor... may sound weird, but I haven't noticed that before...

third thing... not convinced this is anything - but there was an extra switch and light either side of the speedo ?

So - could DPD be an ex-Police car - and a Police car in Trafalgar blue??

Mmmmmmmm....

It is exciting to think it may be..

Kindest regards,

Kevin :)

Hi

I seem the recall Surrey Police had Trafalgar Blue cars rather than the usual Bermuda Blue, but I'm not sure where I heard that. PD was a number issued in Surrey and Surrey Police HQ is in Guildford. I also knew a car locally that was bought new from Wadhams in Guildford which was also DPD. The alternator is also part of the Police spec.

It might be an idea to spend the money on a Heritage Certificate from the BMIHT at Gaydon.

Maybe someone with more knowledge on Police vehicles can add something to this.
