Just a thought, have you tried club spares for a good original one? You never know your luck.

I also have pin holes in my existing tank. I bought a replacement from club spares at a very reasonable price and I’m in the process of cleaning it up ready for painting (photo below).

Good luck.

I just want to buy a new tank for my pickup like the original one, but they do not exist.

Might try some of the suggestions, such as citric acid to clean; but my tank has pin holes which I have covered with plastic metal on the outside. If I can move the internal filter out of the way, I might try sealant.

Thanks, John.

Yes I tried club spares. No LCV tanks available.

The saloon tank that I adapted was a good one. I cut off the filler neck and moved it to the LCV position. I mig welded it in position, and welded a boss over the original filler hole.

The inside of the tank is probably rusting like hell where it has been welded, but what else could I do? I could have put sealer in the tank and hope it covered the welded and heat affected I suppose, but that would be expensive.

PS Morris John. How dare you post a picture of a VW bus on here? Even if it is a little cute one with flowers in it. :D

We found this a few years ago and have seen the odd one since in garden centres.
