Dashpot oil
HS2 carburettor. To what level should I fill the dashpot with oil and what sort of oil should I use?

Re: Dashpot oil
Top up to the top of the narrow section of the dashpot - you will see where it narrows looking in after unscrewing and removing the piston damper. SU make oil for this but ordinary engine oil or 3-in-1 will do the job.

Thanks very much for your quick response. I'll use some engine oil.

Re: Dashpot oil
To test if you have enough oil in the dashpot then unscrew the plunger and try to pull it out a little bit and then push it in again. If there is resistance then the oil level is fine.
