I used a plastic pipe as a temporary job when the old one broke, it ended up melting and spraying oil everywhere when we were resetting the timing and had the engine running for a long time..........

I bought the same one as Keith has shown, its a bit long and requires a couple of loops at the dash end to take up the length but is a good job.

I know the risk from a plastic liner on this place, with the exhaust nearby, and a not moving car, the plastic is not the right material for the job ;)
Maybe with plastic, you need to use the other connection on the front and change plugs.
But I hope to get the copper one on time, so I do not need to use the plastic version.

I found a strange handbrake lever in my spare parts, one without a color, the one in the car was black when I got him.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
Is this normal and was the one in my car painted later?
Or is this one from another type?

That is correct for your car. It should (originally) be painted in a silver colour (very slightly yellow, but not the gold colour of the dash) with a chrome lever. The black one must have been painted by a previous owner.

It looks like my spare one is the original one, never painted, and the chrome from the lever is gone.
Because there is no paint on it, I can try to re-chrome it.

In May and June i traveled a lot by airplane, but did not had much time for the car.
In 2 months only fitted the windows, door locks, and other small parts.
He is only collecting dust now, but today he had to go outside for a short time, to clean the garage.
Tomorrow morning I go back to the airport :x[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
Still a lot to do, the rear bumper frame is not straight, wiring , carburettor, exhaust, wheels painting, and and and....

The past few weeks I did the carburettor revision, the biggest problem was the long stay.
All the old oil was thick and hardened, a brake cleaner shower was the only option.
Today a few hours time, so mounted the lowlight grille.
I wondered what material it is, it looks like stainless steel and not chrome
Now the radiator is hanging, ignition cables new, and the cooling system almost closed.
Next job is connecting the new wiring, and of course the oil pressure pipe.
And the car is collecting dust for another few weeks, tomorrow to the airport again.[frame]Image[/frame]
I used the headlights from the other car, buy I see another mounting way:[frame]Image[/frame]
A small bolt is there, and not the screw with a copper point on the top.
Is this the original, or the other?

Painted the dashboard, to look if I have the right color[frame]Image[/frame]
This was the master for the guy who mixed the paint:[frame]Image[/frame]
But the most important thing, I can put the heater back on his place.[frame]Image[/frame]

Dashboard back on his place, and rewiring all:[frame]Image[/frame]
To test the rest from the cabling, now it was time to start the engine.
This took a while, because some troubles were in the tank, the inlet was blocked.
Now the fuel pump is doing his job on a normal way, ignition adjusted, a little choking, and running.
One problem, while he was running for a few minutes, the fire alarm was going, because this part was mounted above the back from the Morris.
And there is also the exhaust ;)[frame]Image[/frame]
Also after a few minutes running, the thread from the head nuts were going to leak a little, so I re-torqued them to 50 lbsft.
Also some valves are making a little noise, so I have to adjust them later.
Oil pressure on the dashboard is OK, so I can do the rest from the wiring.
Inside the engine bay, I also have to remove the temporary wiring, and connect all the other parts....[frame]Image[/frame]
The weather outside is very bad today, we have a little ice on the roads, so I keep my car inside the dry barn ;)

Some small details to go, the front window surrounds have to be on his place, but I found some new old stock:[frame]Image[/frame]
The price and article number are still on it ADA 1883 and ADA 1884, for the old price from F10.80, what means €4.90 euro each ;)
From what year should be this price?[frame]Image[/frame]
I piched it up yesterday, together with 2 windows, and 3 spare used surrounds....

Just came home with the parts, the windows are ok, but the surrounds from the newer type...
So now I have a set of NOS spares, but not for mine :(
With this numbers I found they are for the 1957-1962 Morris...

First time outside on own power, since years:[frame]Image[/frame]
A small test drive to check the functions, using old American number plates in my own street to drive ;)
Braking, not the same as my Prius, but Okay.
No speedo meter working, new cable, speedo tested, maybe the gear box...
Parked on another position in the barn, so I can finish the rear wiring.[frame]Image[/frame]

Often if the speedo isnt working after sitting for a long time it can be as simple as the needle being stuck, the little stop that the needle rests on is rubber and the metal needle can sometimes get stuck in this. Ive known this on about cars with the early speedo. When you take off the dash panel cover the glass on the speedo can be easily removed to check.

I know, I removed the glass 2 weeks ago ;)
But did not check the gearbox side.
Maybe the rear axle on blocks, and run, to see what is working and what not.
Still a lot of other things to do, the tank meter is not working, and the carb is leaking now after the cleaning.
Before putting new seals in it, the tank needs to run empty I think, but this is not a big issue.

Painted the grille and the first wheels before the new tyres can be mounted.
Because it is not easy to get the original 520/14 tyres, I bought 155/80/14.[frame]Image[/frame]
With the old tyres, a short testdrive..[frame]Image[/frame]
The petrol tank is still not perfect, I have to refresh the petrol, or let the car run in the garage till the tank is empty...

Next week new tyres, and the RDW (dutch DVLA) check, so he may drive on the road.
The old wheels are not bad, some have the original paint.
So I paint the spare wheels, and the worst wheels to keep 2 of them in the original paint, with the original tyre.[frame]Image[/frame]

This one is never painted after leaving the factory....
