Re: Trafficators in use
I notice some moderns have additional flashing indicators incorporated in the side mirrors. presumably this is for the benefit of the idiot sitting in your blind spot where you can't see him/her and he/she can't see your front or back indicators. flashing trafficators would serve the same function. I do wonder, however, how automated cars will deal with this.......

Re: Trafficators in use
On moderns, the flashers in the mirrors (side repeater lamps) are a replacement for those which used to be fitted on the front wings. Whether wing or mirror mounted, they've been a legal requirement in most countries since approx 1985.

Re: Trafficators in use
I have fitted these flashing festoon bulbs to the trafficators on my 1952 MM. They were EA2B bulbs. I did however have to cut about 1.5 turns (possibly 2turns) from the coiled up wire that contacts them. Best to start by removing one turn and if not sufficient increase by half turn cuts.

Re: Trafficators in use
The problem is oncoming traffic, and I have come unstuck so many times at roundabouts I realised it was becoming dangerous. You can't really blame modern motorists for not understanding an anachronism which was dated in the 1960s, let alone now. Tests in the old days proved that trafficators can hardly be seen even under clear conditions. If you must keep them, do as Mike Perry says and have winkers going aswell.

I couldn't agree more.
Re: Trafficators in use
As an old boy observed to me many years ago, fitting indicators doesn't spoil the originality nearly as much as having someone run into you.

Re: Trafficators in use
They look completely the wrong shape and way too big to fit inside trafficator arms.

Yo PB Good hols ?
I agree and was about to reply as such but then it occurred t me that he / she may mean 'in conjunction with' i.e. under the bumper etc. In which case they may be suitable but only if they flash some agree of orange. Other colours would be illegal and an MOT failure. White, particularly at the rear, (other than reversing light) is a big no no.

Re: Trafficators in use
Agreed they'd be good as under-bumper additionals if orange and with a suitable flash-rate (if self-flashing).
Dynamoregulatorconversions recommend coloured LEDs for most applications, e.g. red LED bulbs behind a red stop/tail lens, which I have recently fitted.

Re: Trafficators in use
My comments refer to the ones that fit in the trafficator arms. The ones I used are LED 'cards' which are a direct replacement for the standard bulb. Simply take the bulb out and fit the LED card.
I got mine from:
http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com
They call them 'Flashicator' (amber flashing festoon) bulbs.
Make sure you select the correct size on their website.
For Lucas trafficator arms you will need part number EA2B (12 volt. 36mm length. 7mm pointed cap).
Total cost (July 2017) was £27.95 for a pair.
