The man who does my paint work has a morris minor with an ex transit v4.
I've never seen this conversion before.

This message board is like a family - you can't choose the other members!! But remember engine oil is thicker than water.

This was an extremely common mod before folk found the Fiat twin cam. Engine however is a boat anchor (around 100 bhp in 2000E guise, rather less in more basic spec cars), but did fit rather easily in a weekend. I suppose it was something to do with what was left of your rotten corsair etc
One or two have appeared in Minors on ebay over the last year.

You are far better fitting a good Ford kent engine - looks almost factory when fitted neatly, plus immense tuning potential. Ford V4's were a pretty poor engine when current (heavy for the size), and you would probably have difficulty getting a good one nowadays. If you are set on this conversion, go for the 2 litre out of a Capri, or Corsair 2000E with all the matching running gear.

why not go for the 2L zetec engine, nice set of throttle bodies mapped ignition the works. oops sorry began to drool a bit there
on a serious note waste of time and money to fit a v4. 1300 crossflow is a good starting point plenty available. Plenty of prts for them still knocking around.1600 if you can get one is a cracker of an engine the mk1 mexico used them. get a nice set of webers fast road cam, gas flow the headand you will have a great little car. Good thing about ford all parts are interchangable easily. P.s i have a thing for old fords.

I agree - but it's all down to how thick your wallet is - engines don't come much cheaper than freepaul.kissick wrote:why not go for the 2L zetec engine, nice set of throttle bodies mapped ignition the works. oops sorry began to drool a bit there
