So, there I was sitting at home waiting for my girlfriend to call and say she'd made it through the chaos that was London when my sister rang and informed my my mum's house was a trifle damp...

I got down there, and the water was a good 6 inches higher than it is in this shot:

...and it'd been about another 6 inches higher than that judging by the water line on the garage...

In which my spare 1275 engine is stored. It wasn't in great condition before having a good dunk in muddy water, I don't think I really want to think about what state it's in now. Still, I think it's insured...

Did anyone else get dunked?

Yes thanks :( The water (as you know) flows down the path like a river, and gathers outside the garage (under the car) where the drain has never really worked. Up to about 6 inches deep, but it's happened so many times I don't leave thingd out on the ground. I haven't dared open the garage yet though - and I hate to think what's going on in the inspection pit...

1" of flood water in the spray booth :evil: but over 4ft at the end of the driveway, couldn't even get the tractor through so ended up wading across the higher fields :roll: :D :D

No water down here but I've a mate 'up north' who's parts have had a bath. Apparently the water washed through his workshop, taking engine oil and box oil and who knows what else with it.
Its gonna be a hell of a mess when it runs off and dries. :(

I didn't realise areas in the south were being affected.
What would Macgyver do..?

I managed to get knee deep in the river Wye last night - fortunately I only got the truck just over ankle deep before getting out to see how deep it was further on (I never found out how deep it actually got which was fortunate as it took me a while to realise there was a strong current!).

Moral of story - taking a 20 foot truck with an 18 foot trailer down a 7 foot wide country lane in pitch black whilst completely lost in a flooded part of the world can lead to a whole load of problems.

Sadly I discovered my mum insured the enfield for it's purchase price and not it's value (we paid roughly half what it's worth). I now look forward to lots of pain dealing with insurance people trying to get it repaired.

Motor's full of mud (judging by my disassembly of my type 332 phones that were in the garage)... we're hoping to get the new charger from the house insurance (because it was a separate one); and hopefully the batteries (or at least most of them) have survived. So it *should* be just the controller and possibly a few batteries, and getting the motor checked over and cleaned out. I hope I can get that done within the insured budget, because it was basically pristine :(

Sympathies from me too, I'm just going through the garage and cleaning out all the silt. Drying all the tool boxes (electirc drill, socket sets, power screwdriver etc), and generally faffing aound. There's jsut so much that needs attention.

Hope it all comes good with a squirt of WD40!
