Fiat MPG

now, i was not suprised, nor am i that bothered as long journeys are rare. but i think on a 200 mile trip, doing 60 the whole way(travelling with a VW camper!) i still only got at best 27MPG out of my car. It's running a 2 litre Fiat, and isn't timed up quite right. so i was wondering what sort of mpg i should expect out of it if it's running "right".
i must say though, it did the 200 miles better than i ever did with the A series!

About 27mpg My fuel injected Fiat TC van managed 35mpg on a run but I think you are in a ball park figure of 25-28mpg. Get it timed up right too, tut ,tut.

stupid question time how accurate is the odometer in your speedo? or did you measure the mileage some other way (satnav \ google)? because only 10% out would mean you did 30mpg which is not bad.

Dont be daft, no speedo here! The journey is 200.8 miles from my house to polzeath, and i am relying on my friends speedo being ok in his camper.

25 was about right for mine. I'd hoped that was due to carb running rich and foot running heavy.

I think LPG will approximately half your cost per mile but you will lose your boot or at least spare tyre space. Someone on here has LPG'd a standard Minor - I'm sure I've seen a pic.

Tuning in and a light right foot will help but if you put a TC in it's difficult to resist the dark side:)

Did the conversion our selves
will be doing a morris with twin cam

LPG in my view is the way to go
The A35 feels as if it is far happier when it is running on gas

How much does the LPG kit cost in parts and how do you get it certified? Does it need a separate MOT-like test each year?

And from a tuning perspective, how does LPG cope with turbo/supercharging?

I've got a modified TC with twin 45 Webers on it and if I'm very careful and potter along at 60 then I can get close to 30mpg. Though I generally get way less than that but I think that is mainly my own fault. So definitely get the timing sorted and also get the carb tuned properly as this can make a lot of difference.

Only by 1 or 2 mpg I'm afraid. Amazing to think that the Zetec will easily see 45mpg and with 30bhp more, Ahhhhhh, progress

Hi just doing mpg on my 1600 fiat twin cam. Went to the regional rally (great day) Have done 230 miles so far on a full 9 1/2 gallon tank. There is still approx 2 1/2 gal left but will only no the correct MPG when I fill up again. It seems to do about 39 MPG now since fitting a new Weber DGV carburetta and it was set up on a rolling road. The timing was well out before then getting about 28 to 30 MPG. I do use BP Ultimate Petrol though.

Hi Grumpydad, have you managed to do the conversion on the twin cam? if so how is it running, can you advise on costs for DIY kit.
