You would have to cut the lower outer wing away to replace the entire panel, it looks like you just need to replace the bottom edge, fold up piece of steel and use this, you should be able to trim the bottom off with an angle grinder.

Having a break from grinding and welding tomorrow and going to clean gearbox and paint engine!

If I may offer a little advice with your welding. Looks like you have moved a little quick with the power set to low. This has given you very skinny tall beads with little penatration. An easier way for you to achieve really nice results would be to make a spot weld, turn the torch in a small cicle as you do so and then release the trigger, just before the red glow faids overlap the first spot with another. if you continue in that manner you will end up with a good fairly flat weld that looks a performs as a weld should.

I admire your bravery and wish you the best of luck with your deadline.

I'm still going!!! 2 months til deadline, still welding at the minute but confident!! Just moved house so I'll do a big post once underside is welded in the next week or so!
For now, here's my new house!!!

Got a funny almost grinding/rubbing sound on it, only when freewheeling in gear and turning one way or the other, is this a wheel bearing and is it a hard job to do yourself could someone describe the procedure?

Rubbing noise sounds like a bearing, is it sometimes more noticeable when the car is leaning to one side? Easy enough to change, if you dont have a hub puller you can remove the hub with 2 claw hammers.

When you hit the engine mounting alignment problem I actually drafted you a message which can be summarised as "what a shame, forget the car, which can't possibly be done in time, now get on with the wedding which is far more important." I didn't send it because I decided the last thing you needed was pompous philosophy from an old bloke. Totally humbled by your amazing achievements. Well done!
