It's looking great Edd... I keep coming back to your thread every week or so to get my dose of inspiration. I'm doing my own Morris in a very similar way, and am currently at roughly the same point as you.
How are you managing to do all this without your fiancee finding out?

Well, the garage is at a garden I work at twice a week and I'm desperate to tell her as I'm proud of what I've done! I get my fix on here! She knows I'm working on it for the wedding, she just doesn't believe it will be finished....nor does she have any idea of the colour that's for her! (Almond Green)!

Day #13! Two hours done. No music (angle grinding)

So today was rust grinding and waxoyl removal from boot and wings.[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]


I've ordered repair panels for this beautiful piece of welding:[frame][/frame]

I broke up the gearbox and engines love affair:[frame][/frame]

I've been bringing home little parts to autosol in the hope that it keeps me positive![frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

Phew. Done!

Day #14 Two hours done!

Morris minor fanatics. I need your help. Today, the car got pushed over. Very proud of this achievement, if you read this blog from the start you'd know how scared I've been of doing it all. I need your help because looking at it I just don't know if I can manage this all. It means so much to me to have it done for my wedding (October) but I've just got no one encouraging me, sure my dad helped me today but he spends all his time telling me I can't do this can't do that won't get it done, as does everyone (pfffft October, yeh right) I've just lost my inspiration, motivation and positivity. Sorry for the rant, I had to tell someone. Also try PM-ing Matt Tomkins" fellow poster on here. Another young member currently rebuilding his Traveller - he may be able to point you in the direction of someone who can help you with the welding.

October is a hard target, but possible with help. You will need to outsource as much as you can afford. Bodywork prior to painting is the most specialised and time consuming work (once the welding is done). Spraying is fairly quick, if done professionally. It all depends how important the quality of the bodywork is to you. Budget is going to be the biggest issue, and possibly shock, unless you can reuse almost everything. Keep posting here, you have dozens of followers and we can all help in our own way.

Just visited Maurice at MTR restorations and can't recommend him enough. Made me feel much better, plus a delivery of under sills and inner wings! One foot before the other and once more to the boards!

october will be tight but is possible, my advice would be:

1.Get a plan down on paper, break it down into small tasks such as you can do one or 2 in each session on the car, this will enable you to see if you really have enough time and track your progress to plan.

2. Decide what really needs doing - I would suggest you focus on the body structure, for your wedding you could just fill doors boot etc and do properly later, this will not cost much extra especially if you are doing the paint yourself. Same goes for the mechanicals if they work leave alone for now, you can do these properly later.

Day #15 6 hours done. Lots of music!

So today I had a good long time in the garage, it started with supplies:[frame][/frame]

I'm preparing the underbody for grinding and welding, first job, remove the exhaust. Someone (not me) kindly fitted a stainless one at some point![frame][/frame]

Next job, get the front suspension out of the way, I couldn't for the life of me get it off, doing something stupid no doubt, so I just moved it out the way...[frame][/frame]

Loki was, as usual, no help at all.[frame][/frame]

Before the handbrake/ brake cables and prop shaft came off:[frame][/frame]




Followed by all the springs, dampers rear axle[frame][/frame]

I finished today by taking some pictures of some rot then giving the fan blade a lick of paint:[frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

All in all a good days work. Heading in the right direction.

Day #16 - 12 hours done. Yet again, lots and lots of music.

So today was grinding day, I planned on doing one half of the car at a time, so I started with the RH seeing as that's the side I've bought all the panels for first.[frame][/frame]

One small section at a time until:[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

The RH side is done![frame][/frame]

I still had a bit of energy left so I started cleaning the gearbox, man alive that job is satisfying.[frame][/frame]

Also, anybody know why there is a split pin hanging out of the bottom of the bell housing of the box?[frame][/frame]

That's it for today next job is the other side of the underbody, Loki and myself finished the day with a beer by the pond.[frame][/frame]

Good work there fella-I think the bell housing split pin is there to jiggle about and keep that drain hole clear of dirt and crap and to let any oil out to drip on the floor rather than fill the housing up and spray on the clutch (seems like they expected it to leak) put everything small into labelled bags, don't throw away any old fittings,nuts&bolts etc throw them in a scrap box-you'll be surprised how many times you'll be retrieving bits to reuse small bits!
Make sure you use lots of rust killer/primer on that bright metal!

Cheers! I was going to spray zinc primer, then seam seal any joins and then spray chassis black over that!

I hate waxoil with a passion so I'm never using that!!!

Sounds ok to me, other owner/restorers may have alternative views on it, I used Hammerite type paint on top of the primer to finish, best seam sealer I could find was from Halfords in grey, brush on which did the whole car including inner sills,use masking tape to make it go just that bit further!

Am I right in thinking you seam seal AFTER you zinc primer?
