I'm not sure exactly what you're asking for. If you already have the correct lights and they are new?
Do you mean you only have the lenses?
If you have complete new lights, in what way do they not fit correctly?
I have a car of similar age and the lights fit perfectly.

hi manyminors, I have the complete light unit ( lens / base ect ) but you need a plastic or rubber base that the light unit bolts on to that then bolts on to the rear wing , if you don't have this the light sits at the wrong angle . the rubber base is wider one side than the other so the light sits square .

No, that isn't correct. The correct light base is angled to facilitate that and just has a flat gasket between the plated light base and the wing. You must have lights which are incorrect for a 1961 model.

This is the correct Lucas L549 light for a Minor 1000 from 1956 - 1963.

The Series 11 (Split screen) Minor used a different (although similar) light which had a painted aluminium base.
Perhaps that is what you are thinking of?[frame]Image[/frame]

rear light, i would guess its the difference between the 1954 to 1956 and the 1956 to 1963. The lense is the same but the base sockets are different. 54 to 56 two pieces, painted base and chrome ring, 56 to 63 one piece chromed base

My car is of 1955 vintage, here are the earlier lights.
Best wishes,
Mike.

There are rubber shaped spacers made by Lucas that enable the early 55 l549 lights to be used on greater compound curved wings. There was a seller on Ebay selling these new old stock. It might help you fit the new copy type L549 flat backed lights to the minor rear wing.
