I am sure this will be a great event - as you say Saffron Walden is a beautiful old town with plenty of charm.

Hope it is well attended, if our van doesn't need MOT repairs we may well pop over.

(Have been in Saffron Walden today sorting out the funeral for my car mad uncle who lived in nearby Steeple Bumpstead - so it would be nice to visit the town in our van in memory of him).

Plin, You would be most welcome.

Steeple is nice too! my sister lives there and my mum before her death in January. We are only a small branch but more cars keep coming out of the woodwork and with none of the usual admin stuff - fees etc we are very informal, loosely structured but very friendly. Its probably too far for you but we meet 2nd Tuesday of every other month, 7pm, at the Bluebell - lovely blue painted pub between Walden and Steeple.

PS there is a lovely OEW pick-up just outside Steeple on the Radwinter Road.

I must give this pub a try when next in Haverhill to see the grandchildren. :D

Have used the camp site at Helions Bumpstead which is just up the road.

Weather looking ok, Common well drained - it is on a slope (No Jeremy Clarkson comparison intended). Nothing to stop you. Come and see lots of beautiful cars and some that are not Minors!

Looks very different now.... original lights refitted and seats done ..... Long way from Kidderminster but you would be welcome..Avoid coming through Herts though, apparently witches abound ! And no I have no idea why this poxy site does this with photos !

Much better with original lights, from an Antipodean perspective at least!
Uttlesford is a nice thought, but best kept for next year now. I somehow doubt that Max's mainshaft bearings would survive the journey in their present state :(

Morning firedrake,
What time does it start? We're thinking of going for a couple of hours, but I'm assuming if you park your car on the field it will have to stay for the duration of the event?

Nope it has been very informal for theist couple of years. Several of our members are not arriving until after Church in surrounding villages and exit seems to be as and when you want, with appropriate care take, You will receive a warm welcome. We are trying to reserve space for about 20- plus cars inc a land crab, a roller and and old Standard .

Sorry we can't make it :( so we went out there today for a run in our van as it is a lovely drive and location to stop and have a cuppa.

Hope it is well attended and you have a great day.

(p.s. thanks firedrake - will look out for that OEW Pick-up when charging about trying to sort out things for my late Uncle).

Am waiting for some from the official photographer, as mine are usually rubbish. Fantastic day, hundreds of cars. 25 plus Minors. Oldest was a lovely CLARENDON GREY 1954 convertible and there was also a 1954 CLARENDON GREY 4 door. in addition to my CLARENDON GREY 1957 4 door. Guests from Essex, Herts, and North London and 4 potential new branch members. The two white minors apparently from Cambridge spurned the invitation and went and sulked elsewhere.

Brilliant weather, really good atmosphere! Did I mention there were CLARENDON GREY minors ???

Huge thanks to the Uttlesford branch for letting us park up with you - we had the teal blue traveller :D It was a great day and will definitely be a yearly event. We were expecting a few cars parked up on a small village green, not hundreds of classics and super cars.

@firedrake: Firstly, are the Clarendon Greys aiming for world supremacy? Secondly, is that your starting handle I can see...?

Not aiming, but achieved, We are everywhere whoooooooahahahaha (etc.) And yes it is. I was just about to display my lovely toolkit (Nothing to do with Ginger Bushes) and some teenager would not believe his father that in days gone by you could start cars that way......

Just a note of thanks to all those from Herts, Essex and North London, as well as branch members, who came up to a very Sunny Saffron Walden for the Motor show. It swelled the numbers and we again had the most cars of a single marque amongst the several hundred vehicles of all makes, shapes and sizes who took part - highlight, had to be the chain driver 1917 France Charabanc - a real monster.

Steve Hazon's modded pick up attracted a lot of attention as usual . well merited attention too, - lots of lovely green travellers of various hues. Three Clarendon Grey saloons. the two Series 2 (Convertible and 4 door I have no pictures of unfortunately) and a real talking point because of its looks and the quality work was the wooden sided 948 traveller. Ash panels lovingly dovetailed and shaped on top of the aluminium side panels. . It looked right somehow and the colour of the wood matched the Ash framing as well.

Thanks again all who turned up and supported the charity being collected for.

I have attached some piccies sent to me.

Nice turn-out of Moggies. I know I'm biased but I particularly like the split-screen convertible :)

Really wonderful Pictures! The green traveler with the original wheels is my favourite......................I cannot compete in Quality of finish with my Snowberry White one, but I attach it anyway now that 90% of the work is done. :x
