One brake light out, but it’s not the bulb...

Hi all, I have one brake light out on Snowdrop ❄️💧, but it’s not the bulb as I have checked this... Is there anything else that might affect just one brake light? All other lights are fine. Also are there any elegant solutions for additional brake lights out there?

Many thanks,

Paul.

If the other brake light works then its not going to be the brake switch. And if the bulb is OK and the tail light works (you say all other lights work) then likely a poor connection between where the two brake light wires diverge and the non-functioning brake light. Work back from the light and check the bullet connections in the boot area.

As said, check bullet connectors - I think they ease off over time it might be an idea to pull the bullets out and give the sockets a bit of a squeeze up, and make sure no corrosion!

If the connectors look really old and rough it may be just as well to replace them.......clean up the bullets themselves and a bit of vasoline won't go amiss. It helps if you have a bullet closing tool to push the parts together...

there are several solutions for a high level brake light.

A custom and modified register news letter covers it, let me have your email address in a PM and i can send you a copy.

in the meanwhile if you read this post it shows towards the bottom what i did with my convertible

Charlie I think you've missed the point.
Whoever mentioned 'high level'?

The OP has got one Brake Light not working but it's not the Filament, so clearly a wiring issue; most likely a high resistance connection at a bullet terminal.

Geoberni - I think you missed the point!!! the OP asked in his original question:

'Also are there any elegant solutions for additional brake lights out there?'

Additional brake lights are generally high level

Yep, I'll give you that. I hadn't thought of that option.
I was concentrating on the main question and read the secondary point as being related, i.e. when you see additional lights on bumpers, like with old Morgans etc. :)

No excuse, but I've been a bit distracted/frustrated, by the inability to get a photo into my signature as per the related topics

Evening All
Check the centre bulb connection. my side light failed until I changed the light unit, the original was corroded on the centre bulb, the brass strip and the terminal fibre disc stuck in the tube.
Hope this helps

not a problem.. I thought the previous posts in the thread had covered all the bases and I could add nothing to that conversation so decided go for the supplementary question..

hope you get your photo sorted soon..
