Hi all
New owner , and new to the board.... couldnt resist the 1955 series 2 convertible so bought me a xmas present. Started through the list of jobs and got to the wipers not working, fixed the electrics and now i need to find and fit the mount. It was held in place by three bits of wood and a rag... small wonder it failed...
anyone have a picture or diagram of what i should be looking at?? Its not shown in the manual i have... think i need a bracket and a mounting plate??!!??

That looks bad.
There should be a set of metal and rubber washers screwed through the panel welded to the wing. It is a very fiddly thing to do which is probably why the previous owner bodged the job.

The Ser 2 has the windscreen wiper located up inside the dash. as shown in Loadie's picture but of course with a proper mountings which are item Nos: 3 (qty 3) & 4 (qty 1) in the link below.

Try club spares as they may have a bracket and mount studs/rubbers available.

Morning Phil. The clear light of day sees me checking those links more closely. Moss are notify for stock and the ebay fella is selling tge bracket attached to a motor in another listing....

Also does anyone have a diagram / picture of how it fits to the car? Assuming it goes on the fwd bulkhead somehow?

I had a similar problem with my Series 2 a few years back.

The bracket bolts to the upper surface of the metal plate above the parcel shelf. There should be holes in the metal plate corresponding to the holes in the bracket. The wiper motor bolts to the bracket as shown in the 'e' bay listing.

A fiddle but can be done.

If I still had the Series 2 I would be grabbing that motor, bracket, rack and the two wheel boxes in the 'e' bay link above with both hands as those parts are hard to source.

Thanks for the info most useful, there is some parts in the parts section im chasing and hopefully ill get sorted there. Will stick me head in the front and have a look for the mounting holes too...
The current list of bits needed just to get her up to spec is driving the wallet rather than gathering spares at present

esm sell both parts of the mounting

On a car i bought they had wedged a later 1000 wiper motor in under the dash and used lost of expanding foam on it....... Good job it didnt work as I expect it would have went on fire!

Hi, I had to remove and repair a wiper motor on one of S/S cars. I did take a series of pictures for a "story" of how to do it, but never got around to posting it up.
I'm attaching a couple of pictures - one of the mount (but without the 4 bolts fitted) and also one of the motor being manoeuvred out. George.

Ah gotcha now, im thinking it was the other way up. Next nice day thats me fiddling then

To remove the motor, so you can fit its rubber mount, locate the nearest wheel-box then undo the three set screws (left-most one holds down the outer sheath for the drive cable) and the 2 scews holding down the wheel-box cover. Once the CRT wiper motor is free, just carefully lift the drive cable out of the whee-box which gives you enough flexibility to get the motor out from behind the facia.
If you need to work on the motor itself, take off the alloy cover and lift out the fibre connecting link and unhook the drive cable link, leaving the drive cable and wheel-boxes in situ If you need any more help, I have loads of pictures of repairing the motor brush holders, etc.

Thanks again George looking at the mount esm sold me a plate wity threee rubbers on it as the correct one, looking at the pic im thinking i need the three separate ones....

i think the esm one is a different design my 55 s 11 car had 3 seperate mounts onto the triangular plate i just screwed the new plate to the motor and it all fitted fine

The ESM triangular plate is the correct replacement. I've gone through my photographic record and I failed to take a picture of the new plate fitted!
What I have got is a photo of the remains of the original disintegrated one on the workbench The plate remains are on the back of the motor and, on the far left, is the angled mount it bolts onto.
As my newest acquisition (a 1950 low-light) has a completely loose wiper motor (a bit of foam was used to hold it in place), I will be going through this exercise again and will keep a better record.

Good luck with the replacement - just take your time and don't damage your hands.
