'57 Traveller engine earth/ground strap

Post by nutmegct »

I see no engine ground strap on my car. I do see new woven/stranded ground straps available for the MM 1000 from various suppliers.

Where is that ground strap to be found on the car? A photo would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Hi,
I have an earth strap at the back of the gearbox (which I believe is standard) but I've also added one at the front of the engine, using a strap very similar to the one in your photo. They are not expensive and I think it's a sensible addition.

As you can see, I used the passenger side engine mount as a location for this.
Best wishes,
Mike.

I found this image online for you of the standard chassis to transmission earth strap:

That one looks a bit tight though, I think mine must have a little more length to it.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Thanks Mike. Adding a second ground strap sounds good to me. The photos make the whole setup much clearer.
