tyre prices

Post by dudload »

wow!

just had a look at replacing the 5 tyres on the saloon i've been working on for a while. bought new bridgestones for traveller 3 years back at £60 or so each - now can't find anywhere for less than £100!

wondering if this is a permanent rise or just a blip with our particular tyres?

Have you considered Blockley Tyres? They seem quite reasonably priced and have a decent reputation in the classic/vintage car world.
Might be a worthwhile alternative.

That's pretty much the price of tyres these days, I doubt this is a temporary blip sadly. You can get cheaper Toyo tyres from ESM for less, about £80 each. https://www.morrisminorspares.com/wheel ... l-p1238587 Have a search on here though for feedback. If I remember correctly, some people weren't too keen on them. ESM also used to stock Nankang tyres at about £40 each. They are very much budget tyres but I've never had any complaints about them. I see WRCC still stock them for about the same price. https://westridingclassics.co.uk/produc ... 0x14-tyre/

Its only when you check back you realise that what you thought was a few months ago actually was a couple of years.
I had 5 fitted, Nankang tyre, whoever they are, in March 2021, £56.65 each plus £54.00 to fit them. Prices shown include vat.
I kept the old tyres as planters, so didn't have to pay to have them recycled.

I recently replaced my tyres with a set from Blockley. I’m happy with them so far and the classic tread pattern looks good on the car. Just under £300 for a set of four.
