Break light switch removal, stuck

Post by Rosemore »

In having trouble trying to loosen up the break light pressure switch. It seems seized up. Any kind suggestions for getting it to budge while on a working car would be very greatly appreciated.

A deep socket or box spanner on the switch and you need to stop the union from turning by holding it with mole grips or water pump pliers or similar.

As above. They can be quite awkward to remove. I recall I was able to stop mine rotating by wedging the t piece with a block in place of pliers.

When replacing make sure you don't get left with an air bubble in this leg. It will no bleed out in my experience and causes spongy brakes. You can get an assistant to gently push down on thr brakes to ensure the union is full while refitting

... or with a "dropper" , apply a little brake fluid into the fitting ( and the switch ).
