The open glove boxes on my 1955 Series 2 are very grubby.
Are new ones available or can one buy a spray flock to refurbish the existing ones?

Yes, they are available (although not currently, according to ESM website, you could see if other suppliers have them in stock). A bit pricey though at £44.42 each: https://www.morrisminorspares.com/body- ... -h-p828843 and https://www.morrisminorspares.com/body- ... -h-p828844
I have heard of people painting old ones to freshen them up......

I got new ones for my later car but they get dirty very easily. I also ruined the new one on one side when the wiper wheel box bezel gasket failed and the brand new glovebox got wet.

Tom Roy lists new glove boxes for all ages of Minors but you would need to contact them to check availability. http://www.tomroy.co.uk/content/spares Not cheap either but there's not much chance of finding good second hand ones these days.

I have a NOS right hand box that may be suitable. It is labeled BMC - ADA 4063. Unfortunately the rivets have left rust marks on the flocking. If you are interested send me a PM.
As a side, I painted my 1069 Traveller's glove boxes with cream spray paint. The finnish was hard but it looked OK.

If replacing, take care as there are several differing types according to model. All will fit, but it depends if you want the right one.

Thank you to all of you who replied; I will have a trawl of the reputable suppliers and if all else fails I will try paint; I would not mind a hard finish as it ought not to mark. I hope.

Try Newton Commercial directly. That is what I did.

Actually, for a SII, they won't 'All Fit', because of the Wiper Motor....
I don't know about LHD, whether it changed location (I see no reason for it to change on clap hand wipers... :-? ) but for RHD the RH Glovebox requires the cut-away bit on the outer corner....
According to the AKD 3542, the cut away glovebox rolled over onto S3 production. Perhaps to use up old stock??

Thank you.
I have had a look at the Newton Commercials web site; they have glove boxes (abt £54 each) and these have the cut out for the wiper motor.
I will buy some in the spring; meanwhile I have some tidying of the facia to do which is best done with the old boxes in situ.
I am really grateful for ll the help and advice I hae had in this matter.

If you have any autojumbles you can get to, you never know what you might find.
Whilst there can often be lots of junk, amongst it can be some real gems.
You might find a glovebox liner.
