Midget Steering Rack

Post by rocco »

Can anyone tell me please, does a steering rack from a LHD Midget fit a Minor? If the RHD rack can be turned upside down to fit to convert to LHD, would an LHD rack be identical to the RHD rack for a Minor?

Hopefully someone has followed along with that.

For most years of Midgets that is true. The Midget rack was changed at some point, maybe early Seventies. It looks different.

Thanks. From what I have gleaned, the earlier racks are fat and the later ones (post '70 I guess) are thin.

The one I found wasn't exactly cheap and since then I've seen them going on eBay, new, for about the same price.

I didn't intend to convert mine to LHD but if I can get hold of the parts cheaply then I might have them to do the job at a later date.

If you do decide to convert to LHD, then perhaps my thread on experiences will be useful
