MM air silencer
Having just acquired a 1952 MM with a USHM3 side valve engine, I am on a steep learning curve discovering the differences between it and the A series engines, which I am very familiar with. I understand that the home models 'air silencer' is just there to make it run quieter, with no great filtration. Having taken mine off, it seems to just clamp on to the carburettor inlet piece but I wondered if there should be a rubber bush or seal on it? See photo

No seal fitted there, that's how they are!
