Oil Leak at the back of the engine.

I've started to get an oil patch on the garage floor under the clutch. I've not cleaned it off to see where the leak is coming from, so what is the most likely cause. It looks like engine oil.

The engine starts and runs perfectly. No smoke, idles perfectly and no power loss.

Re: How safe are braided fuel pipes?

My local garage fitted a new braided hose for an MOT. less than 2 years later it had perished and over the winter it split into about 4 bits.
I wouldn't fit another one.

Re: WHEELER DEALERS

It was intresting to see the program after speaking with the crew when they filmed my car for the opening sequence. It was also great to see my car on screen. They were saying that their car was so rotten underneath that they had to send it off to have the rot replaced because it was too much work f...

Re: Morris Minor needed for a Television Show

I'm sorry to see some of you had problems with Attaboy TV. I noticed the request on a Facebook link on Saturday evening and I sent Ollie a text. After a call on Monday I agreed to take my car to their filming yesterday. One think they look for is a car in a contast colour to the one they are rebuild...

Re: Heater not working.

Good call.

But the car ran faultless all day. Surely with 340 miles with a stuck stat it would show signs of overheating? I'll try removing it and see it it helps.

Heater not working.

I've just driven 340 miles today in my Trav and the heater never got hot, I wouldn't even say it was warm.

Car has radiatior full of water when I left, and returned.
Valve on the head was open.
No leaks,
New water pump.

Should I blank off half the rad?

Re: tax renewal

working for rolls royce is completly different to owning one.

I restored my dad's Trav with him, and since he passed away I've kept the car and always will. It's not as good as a RR, but it's more fun to drive and cost a lot less.

Differential Backlash

I've brought a 3.9 diff from Ebay and it arrived today. The teeth on the pinion and crownwheel look really good but....

When turning the input shaft, I and feel some backlash. Is this normal? I guess its about 2deg rotation before the crownwheel moves.

So a rebuild would solve that.

Can you buy the centre shaft for a pump from somewhere?

Re: Fuel Pump - Which one?

I fitted new points about 4 years ago, and the small wires inside have corroded and snapped off. I tried to unscrew the points and the centre shaft broke off at the end. So I need a new pump or shaft. I also found that my pump needed a little tap to get it working if I didn't use it for a few weeks....

Fuel Pump - Which one?

My fuel pump as packed in and needs new points.
To be honest, I don't use the car much and it drives me mad when it doesn't start when I do use it. Therefore I was thinking of buying an electric kit for them. Are they any good or do they break down with heat from the exhaust?

Thanks,

So my 2l of concetrate would give about 30% mix giving protection down to -18deg C. I guess that probably enough down here on the sunny south coast.

I get 65 psi when starting, but 25-30 when idling when hot. Normal driving I get 40psi warm.

Coolant anti-freeze amount

My Trav has only water in the engine after I changed some hoses, so I need to add anti-freeze for the winter.

So how much water should a Trav hold including the heater? I'll then drain some water and add enough concentrate to create a 50/50 mix

Re: what price do concourse travellers get insured for

I used Footman James who stated I could insure a moggy for upto £15,000 without an independant valuation. So I entered £14,999 which was excepted. This year they would only renew the policy if I had an independant valuation. This came back as £14 - £14,500 so they excepted my valuation. These values...

just had an idea. file the flats back onto the blanking bolt, until you get a good fit on the next socket down and then have at it with a big breaker bar and scaffold pipe? much more fun! :D Nice idea, but it's flush on the head. When the head was last off, I tried and impact hammer with alot of he...

Re: Water leak. Best method to fix it is.....

ok, I don't want to move the sensor anywhere new. I don't want to reinvent the wheel. If I drill out the plug and retapp the hole, what size thread is it? I've seen a mini cooper thermostat housing with the sensor under the stat (giving head temp). But it also has an extra outlet which will need to ...

Re: Trav Rear Suspension overhaul

Thanks.

If the front pins don't unscrew, how do you get them out? Can I just cut them off?

The shackles are so cheap I won't bother painting them, I don't have the time or space to have the car in the workshop for too long.
