Re: MM SIDEVALVE BLOCK & SUMP WANTED

Hi Bryan,

I note your post particularly the side valve block and wanted to know if it is the USHM2 (no water pump provision) or the USHM3 (with water pump provision) your contact requires? I would not be able to offer the complete engine but block maybe. Welcome your feedback.
Regards,
spike.

Re: MM Quarterlight Repair

Hi Rob, Glad you found the photos Rob and thanks for the reply. Sadly I do not have the rubber and likely never will have. I have been in touch with Frank McD who is active on this issue. I think I will mount with the straighter of the two edges on the flat face to the open edge of the frame top cha...

Re: MM Quarterlight Repair

Hi Rob, Greetings and please refer PM. The lower pivot block you made is now fitted. Terrific thanks. I just have a quick question about the top pivot block mounting orientation. I know it fixes to the top channel with the 2x domed counter sunk screws on the block flat faced surface. But which way a...

Re: MM Quarterlight Repair

Thanks again for all the interest and wonderful comments and in the case of Rob such terrific finds. It's such a great pity that the two quarter light finds are rusted through. Double drat. So I still have to go once again the route of modifying a later quarter light frame. Remember I did this for t...

Re: MM Quarterlight Repair

Hi Rob, Thanks once again for the feedback and we are slowly making some progress. The bottom pivot position is different to the later quarter light frames. An earlier photo attached to this post illustrates the dimensions. Here I have attached a photo of the pivot block mentioned earlier that needs...

Re: Flaring Tool for Copper Rivets

Hi Rob, Many thanks for the reply. I will speak with LAS Aero on Monday to identify the specific rivet set. However just looking at their suitable products the tubular rivet sets these are £30 + VAT and delivery. Since this is single use situation for only 26 rivets I'm sure the readers understand t...

Flaring Tool for Copper Rivets

PLEASE CAN YOU HELP. I removed two riveted channels from each of the window frames om my 1949 low light before having all the components re-chromed. The channels were riveted to the window frames and I drilled them out for removal. Now comes the time to replace the channels onto the frames. I'm tryi...

Re: MM Quarterlight Repair

Hi Rob, Really welcome your reply. I will look forward to the results of your quarter light search. Regarding the copper rivets these can be found on ebay and come in from Hong Kong. However its crucial we purchase the correct type. I might be able to find them in UK and will search. I presume we ca...

Re: MM Quarterlight Repair

Hi Rob, Greetings. I've just been advised by the platers that now the drivers side quarter light is too far gone for chroming. Double drat. Every which way I turn I get smacked in the face. I notice during this post that you had found a painted drivers side quarter light. Just like the one in the pi...

Chrome Window Frame Assembly - Copper Riveting

Greetings readers can you help? I recently made the decision to have the window frame assemblies on my 1949 Lowlight re-chromed. To facilitate re-chroming I removed the vertical channels (2 per door) by drilling out the numerous 1/8 inch copper rivets. Now with the chroming completed I need to re-ri...

Re: side window, is this an original?

Hi TvdWerf, Yes this looks just perfect for my 1949 low light. I'm missing one and in need of a replacement quarter light for the passenger side (refer photo). Note the extensive corrosion damage which is probably beyond repair. My own post (MM Quarter Light Repair) has been running for sometime now...

Re: MM Quarterlight Repair

Hi Rob, Thinking as one does. Perhaps a better alternative solution would be to take a very good condition quarter light frame (of same profile) from a later model and transfer over to it both swivel pins and the half moon catch. This would involve some detailed drilling of the donor frame, welding ...
