I Gave Up Smoking 3 Months Ago Now Need a Cig Socket.

Gladys is a March, 1962, 4 door 948cc. Having thankfully managed to kick cigarettes after decades of being a smoker, I now find I really could do with one of those cigarette/power/charger sockets that are endemic on all modern cars, as I need to use a Satnav and similar devices. How does one go abou...

I was hoping to start today but a slight emergency has arisen.
I will be starting tomorrow.

Re: Phyllosan Fortifies The Over Fifties

Hi Yes, both of these cleaned and checked. A dirty carb would be liable to cause problems at all speeds, whereas this problem kicks in at 50mph plus. I will check the exhaust later today, and inspect the fuel filter on the pump. If these provide no clues, I will do a compression test and install new...

Re: Phyllosan Fortifies The Over Fifties

I called the MMOC parts chap but as he was just about to go on holiday for 3 weeks, he referred me to Brian Wood at the Bournemouth branch as Brian Wood refurbishes all the fuel pumps for MMOC I was informed. The replacement pump is refurbished/recon and carries a 6 months guarantee. I don't think t...

Phyllosan Fortifies The Over Fifties

1962, 948cc unleaded head. I have just replaced the fuel pump (MMOC Recon) as the old one had been exhibiting intermittent faults after decades of service. The new pump seemed to improve just about everything. I also cleaned the carb. I checked and set the fuel mixture using the advice in Haynes-&qu...

Re: Fool Pump

I fitted a recon fuel pump (MMOC spares) and the difference is astonishing.
Immediately there was an improvement in just about everything.
I did some fine tuning of fuel mixture and idle speed and it now seems to be ideal.
Many thanks indeed for your advice

Re: Very Left Wing....

Please may I ask:

1
is it an inner wing section or sections that needs replacing?
2
Outer wing replacement?

3 Or both?

4
In replacing sections, inner and/or outer, is there any welding involved?

Yes, I know it's a right wing-the photo is for illustrative purposes only.

Learning the art of MIG welding is not always possible, I am disabled.

Very Left Wing....

1962, 4 door, 948cc Olive Green. The driver side front wing has become non flush with the rest of the wing, and driver door, at the very bottom-see photo, it tends to outride the rest of the panels and is loose. Having read and researched I do not know whether this is a small repair right up to a wi...

Re: Fool Pump

I made a start and decided to examine the fuel pump again. I suspect it is on it's way out as not only are the points and contacts pitted but there is a devil of a small red wire that is loose and may be broken internally. I don't want to trust to a re soldering, and replacing the points and so fort...

Re: Fool Pump

hello
yes, the gasket is what I replaced.

What is "the rod" and the gasket is obviously new, so how to put play in it?
Thanks again

Re: Fool Pump

hello, Thank you for your reply. I don't understand what is meant by, needs pull on the diaphragm? If you could elaborate I would be grateful. By, "Diaphragm", I mean the gasket/diaphragm as in the pic attached. I used the Haynes manual as reference and followed the instructions, is it the...

Fool Pump

1962, 4 door, 948 cc The fuel pump seemed to be operating below normal, so I suspected the fuel filter needed cleaning. I took the pump off, and cleaned the filter (it really needed it!) and replaced the diaphragm. I have refitted the pump, but have the following problems. 1. On ignition circuits fi...

Jet Set

1962 948cc. This is a strange one. I recently altered the fuel mixture to rectify some slightly rough running. It was then that I noticed the very top nut, the ssecuring one, had come loose and had turned with the adjustment nut. I retightened the securing nut, checked the adjustment nut was 2 full ...
