Re: MOT from 1st April 2021

I think that a Magazine article about all these slight wording changes would be relevant to just a handful of people. I'm inclined to agree thanks. There's always a chance that I am behind the times but the only things I am aware of relate to cars younger than the newest Minor. LED headlights - the...

Re: Last saloon in Minor Matters

I am sorry to report that no one involved with that part of the project - welding and painting - sent me any photos for Minor Matters so that's why this issue contains pictures of suspension parts being fitted. Covid restrictions haven't always made things easy though. Since those shots were taken I...

Re: Tour UK to Spain with a Morris Minor in august 2014

4 I checked on the Britannyferries web and the price for the 24 and 31 are the same 326 GBP. Please can you tell me what do you think about this Morris? http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=56368 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1968-Morris-Minor-1000-2-door-old-english-white/221501139374?_trksi...

Re: Tour UK to Spain with a Morris Minor in august 2014

Hello. I have done part of what you are proposing in an old car. Last year, we took the Portsmouth to Santander ferry with a 1973 Land Rover and drove around Spain camping for two weeks. I will answer any questions that I can but here are a few points; 1. The UK to Spain ferries get a lot cheaper at...

Re: Go with noakes

Yes, I too remember Go with Noakes and his Convertible - I came from a Minor-ing family so already wanted a Minor but those TV shows made me want to paddle the Liffey Descent canoe race. It took a few years but I did eventually - it became an annual canoeing pilgrimage through the mid-80s-early-90s....

Re: Jaguar XK/Traveller cut & shut for sale!

It's just another car in the tradition of British 'shooting brakes'. When they're built by posh coach builders they are rated as classics, when someone does one himself people seem more negative... Don't understand that really.

Re: Minor Matters

Louise - We can split hairs over which mods are okay and which aren't forever, that's not my point at all as several posts of mine state; simply put I find his pompous, arrogant, know-it-all, self-assured, smug, orange corduroy tone offensive and feel that less divisive language would have been bett...

Re: Minor Matters

Faversham999 - a few years back one of the custom magazines had a feature about someone who'd grafted a two-door Minor shell onto the foorpan and mechanicals of a Ford Capri. Couple of points to add to the thread above; 1. Prof Fawcett isn't a pseudonym, he was at the Barnsley Rally in orange cordur...

Re: Minor Matters

He can be for or against modifications, I don't care. It's still this guy's superior and pompous tone that's got right up my nose; 'Look, I'm a professor, I've a standard car and I'm right, so you plebs with your modified Minors are just completely wrong, lacking in taste and really not very intelli...

Re: Minor Matters

Fair enough Iain but he could use language that is slightly more respectful to others within the same club... A Fiat engine isn't an affront and a sun visor isn't a monstrosity. JC

Re: Minor Matters

I agree, I like standard Minors AND modified ones. I don't want a Marina TC (if I could find one) although I enjoyed my time with a Marina van I had years ago. I also enjoyed my time with a Marina-axled, disc-braked, 1275cc two-door a few years back. I'm in another club for another model of car and ...

Re: Minor Matters

I agree 100% - fitting an accessory in 1957 or fitting one in 2007... It's the same deal, just the accessory that's changed. His whole tone is just so unnecessarily rude; 'Fiat engine an affront', 'external sun visors monstrous'... he might not like modifcations (any more) but he doesn't need to be ...

Minor Matters

Just thought I'd say that I've just read the new issue of MM and really hate the 'holier than thou' comments by that bloke about modified Minors. I loathe that, 'I used to modify my car but I've seen the light' attitude. If cars weren't meant to be modified, God wouldn't have invented the hackaw. JC...
